Capital Packers is looking for employees to join our team. Currently we have openings for the following positions:


Head Butcher (retail and wholesale) (NOC 6251) (2011 NOC 6331)

Capital Packers Inc. requires a Full Time Head Butcher for our Fresh Meat Department. The work shift is 6:00 A.M. to 2:30 P.M. Monday through Friday, with over time as needed to fulfil production demands. Starting wage is $18.50 per hour, with overtime paid at 1.5 times the hourly wage. The work location is 12907 – 57 Street Edmonton, Alberta.

You are a master butcher with vocational and technical training, with minimum 5 years of work experience, some in an industrial/wholesale setting. We are a meat packing establishment with a customer base including hotels, restaurants, institutions, distributors, grocery chains and box stores. You must be able to assemble/disassemble all department equipment, operate a band saw, meat grinders, bowl cutters and sausage making equipment, and have efficient knife skills in deboning, trimming and preparing meat cuts and sausages. You will follow Canadian Industry standards in meat cutting and apply Canadian and German sausage formulation/creation techniques, a knowledge of spices and ingredients functionality and trends is also needed. You will have experience working in a cold, physically demanding environment where standing is required for extended periods.

You are a butcher with vocational or technical training, with 5 years of work experience, some in an industrial/wholesale setting; we are a meat packing establishment with a customer base including hotels, restaurants, institutions, distributors, grocery chains and box stores. You must be able to operate a band saw, cuber, meat grinder and sausage making equipment; as well as have efficient knife skills in deboning, trimming and preparing meat cuts and sausages for specific customer specifications and for stock items. Training and/or supervising other workers in the most efficient way to cut and pack meat cuts and meat products produced in the department will be necessary. You will have experience working in a cold, physically demanding environment where standing is required for extended periods.

Industrial Mechanic

Capital Packers Inc. requires an Industrial Mechanic for our Maintenance Department. The work shift may start as early as 6 am to 2:30 pm or start as late as 8-9 am, Monday-Friday (possible weekend shifts), with over time as needed. Starting wage is $20.00per hour, with overtime paid at 1.5 times the hourly wage. The work location is 12907 – 57 Street Edmonton, Alberta.

You are a mechanic with vocational or technical training, with 5 years of work experience. You must be able to read and understand blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings. Must know how to install/troubleshoot vacuum, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and refrigeration systems. You will inspect equipment to detect malfunctions for preventative maintenance. You may know how to install/service pumps, fans, conveyors, and generators. You will also perform general carpentry, plumbing, painting, floor and wall repairs, equipment inspections, adjustments, assembly, and disassembly. Must be able to operate a forklift, skid-steer, lathe, grinders, saws, and use hand tools efficiently and safely. Must have excellent record keeping skills, good people and team relationship skills, while maintaining food safety standards. You must be able to tolerate working in a cold environment, and be able to lift up to 60 pounds. You must also perform other duties as assigned by management if safe to do so.
